Our fleet of late model, high performance plant ensures that we work to the highest standard possible – as quickly as possible and as accurately as possible.

In accordance with our core values, we only purchase machinery with low emission characteristics. We are extremely environmentally aware, and aim to reduce our impact on the earth as much as possible – hence being willing to spend a little more on plant if it means our carbon footprint is minimised.

We also buy all plant with the comfort of our operators in mind. We have found that the higher the level of morale among our operators, the higher the level of productivity. This goes hand in hand with decreased downtime and increased safety levels, as well as maximising employee satisfaction.

Excavate

The T & J Constructions fleet of excavators is made up of Hitachi, Komatsu and Caterpillar plant. These well-known brands are universally dubbed the most reliable and efficient in the industry, and have no less than Tier 3 Emissions compliant motors – hence why we use them. Additionally, our larger (20t+) excavators are all Tier 4 Emissions compliant. Our excavators range in size from 1.5 to 36 tonnes so that we have a machine for everything from small urban projects, to bulk earthworks and deep service installations.

All T&J excavators are GPS tracks and monitored to ensure we are operating in the most efficient way possible. From 13tn up all T&J excavators are fitted with latest state of the art Trimble 3D GPS Earthworks Systems. This allows our operators to view the entire project on his/her in cab screen in a 3D view. With this system the excavation is millimetre accurate and is executed with maximum efficiency, it also means we can operate without having any personal within the working area of the machines as no physical level checks are required resulting in a much safer work practice.

This equipment is expensive but returns superior accuracy, efficiency and safety for both T&J and our valued clients

Compact

T & J Constructions pride ourselves on the quality of our road construction and trench reinstatement. We carry out bulk fill earthworks under Level 1 supervision and have compaction plant and equipment to successfully meet the standard required of any job.

Our fleet of rollers is made up of Dynapac, Bomag, and Volvo machines, ranging from 2 to 20 tonnes. Each roller has a static or vibratory function, which we are able to select based on the job at hand.

Other machines that T & J Constructions employ in the process of compaction include leg rammers, plate compactors, diesel Deep Penetration units (DPUs), and excavator mounted compaction wheels/hoepacs.

Grade

The team at T & J Constructions is made up of innovators – we are constantly searching for ways to improve productivity, accuracy and quality. For this reason, we have invested heavily in 3D Construction software, GPS, UTS and total station 3D fully automatic grade control for our machines.

T & J Constructions’ UTS total station allows us to complete the final trim of a site to millimetre precision. Our system involves creating a 3D site plan which is then transferred to our Graders, where the on-board Trimble control box determines the position of each blade tip and compares it to the design elevation. The control box can then compute the volume of cut or fill to grade – data which consequently drives the Grader’s valves for automatic blade control. Most of the grading done by T & J Constructions is carried out using CAT 120M & 140M Graders.

Load

T & J Constructions have a fleet of efficient loaders with powerful Tier 4 engines that make bulk handling easy. We used our large articulated loaders during projects that have spacious, open sites, such as subdivisions. For projects with tighter, less accessible sites, such as roadworks and streetscape, T & J substitute load capability for manoeuvrability by employing our smaller, skid steer loaders to do the job.

Our loaders don’t just shift dirt – each articulated loader has a load certified jib and set of forks so that it may move pallets, concrete pipes, stormwater pits and pit covers. Our machinery ensures that heavy items are lifted safely and correctly at all times, our loaders are all fitted with safety burst valves.

Shift

Here at T & J Constructions, we can lift and shift just about anything. Our fleet of road-going trucks ranges from Isuzu tandem tippers, to HINO semi tippers, to 5-8t UD trucks. Behind the trucks we are able to tow quad dog tipping trailers, tag-a-long and triaxle equipment floats with decks that can widen to 3.5m to move our larger equipment in total safety.

The T & J Constructions shed is also home to 40tn CAT articulated dump trucks, which we incorporate in bulk earthwork projects in order to ensure that site material is handled safely and efficiently.

T & J Constructions also owns a fleet of watercarts, which play a vital part in our dust control management system and moisture conditioning construction materials to the optimum moisture content. Each watercart has its own wireless automated control system which serves to ensure a targeted approach to dust control through minimising water wastage.

Bore + Break

T & J Constructions implement a range of measures to break out rock, profile out pavements and bore holes. These measures include rock breaking percussive hammers that can be fit to any one of our excavators (from 5 – 36t) to break out rock, pits and concrete foundations. The hammers save considerable amounts of time and allow for precise excavation in areas where rock is prevalent.

T & J Constructions also have an excavator-mounted auger with bits ranging from 300mm to 1200mm in size. Once fitted with the appropriate extensions, our Auger can drill holes up to 6m deep, and is used for footings, foundations, piles and dewatering spears.

T & J Constructions also have a group of partners that we call upon when horizontal boring is required, such as when drilling under roads, railways and other infrastructures that require service installation without disturbing the ground above.

Our fleet of profiling plant is diverse – the machines we generally use to profile pavements are our skid steer mounted profilers, though for larger road reconstruction works we employ large contact plant that is able to work at an incredible 1200m3 per hour.
